YOU’RE HIRED! Two Apprentices Offered Full-Time Jobs with AgencyUK
As National Apprenticeship Week gets underway, we are thrilled to announce that our two apprentices have been offered full-time jobs with The Agency.
Laura Farrington and Jasmine Matthews have both recently completed apprenticeships studying at Cirencester College whilst working at AgencyUK.
Laura graduated from Swansea University with a 2.1 degree in English literature and Creative Writing in 2013 and has just completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Social Media and Search Engine Optimisation. She says practical work experience was the only way to progress into her chosen career: “Whatever career you choose, you need on the job experience to put yourself above and beyond the competition. Apprenticeships are a perfect way to do that whilst growing and learning with support along the way.” Laura is now working as a Social Media Executive at AgencyUK.
Jasmine wasn’t keen on the idea of going to University, so studying for a Diploma in Marketing Communications and Advertising (equivalent to a Foundation Degree) through an apprenticeship was the perfect option: “I learn quicker and more effectively in a working environment so for me, the apprenticeship gave me the chance to develop my skills and get valuable experience in my chosen career.” Jasmine is now working as a Junior Designer at AgencyUK.
Laura and Jasmine both attended college one day a week, completing their apprenticeships through Cirencester College as well as work and assessments at home.
Amy Stobie, Partner at The Agency says that taking on apprentices helps to secure a vibrant, skilled and fresh-thinking team for the future: “We often find that young people who apply for apprenticeship schemes are self-starters and proactive individuals who are incredibly eager to learn and succeed in their chosen career. Laura and Jasmine have worked hard to complete their Apprenticeships and we are thrilled to have them working at AgencyUK.”
Apprenticeships have been on the rise in recent years, with the number of people starting an apprenticeship growing from 279,000 in 2009/10, to 440,000 in 2013/14 according to recent figures.
